Held on February 25, 2015, this landmark workshop drew 250 delegates including RWA officials, architects, corporates, schools, NGOs, the Deputy Commissioner of Gurgaon, and the Director of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). GurgaonFirst signed an MoU with DC Gurgaon and the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) for solar training and consultancy, establishing the city’s first structured solar facilitation centre at Rajiv Gandhi Renewable Energy Park. The official launch of GurgaonFirst’s Solar Handbook — a comprehensive guide for Gurgaon residents, RWAs, and institutions on adopting rooftop solar energy. The handbook covered system sizing, vendor selection, net metering, subsidy schemes, and the economics of solar adoption. The launch of Haryana Fresh, a pioneering farm-to-consumer programme connecting Haryana’s farmers directly with Gurgaon’s urban consumers — eliminating middlemen and ensuring fresh, traceable produce. More than a thousand workers lose their hands and fingers to crush injuries annually in Gurgaon-Manesar’s auto manufacturing sector alone. To help sustainably reduce such incidents, SafeInIndia — a citizen initiative — researched pragmatic, win-win solutions to improve working conditions while collaborating with manufacturers. A panel discussion of senior industry and social sector executives was organised on September 29, 2015 at Artemis Hospital Auditorium, attended by more than 200 delegates including manufacturers, workers, NGOs, and healthcare professionals. A dedicated conclave for school principals, teachers, and students exploring how Gurgaon’s schools can lead on sustainability through curriculum, campus management, waste reduction, solar energy, and student-led initiatives. A hands-on workshop demystifying net metering — the billing mechanism allowing solar panel owners to earn credits for electricity fed back to the grid. Covered DHBVN net metering procedures, system sizing, vendor evaluation, and real-world case studies from early Gurgaon solar adopters. A wide-ranging workshop on sustainable lifestyle choices for Gurgaon residents covering food, transport, energy, waste, and community action. The 2016 Annual RWA Conclave, themed “Towards Citizen Involvement in Gurgaon’s Development.” RWA leaders from across Gurgaon gathered to share best practices, engage with MCG and GMDA officials, and develop collective advocacy on roads, water, waste, electricity, and green spaces. Examined the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, safe city infrastructure, and the role of citizens, employers, and government.
