In 2009, Latika Thukral co-founded I Am Gurgaon, uniting concerns for disappearing landscapes into an influential citizen-led environmental movement. What began with a handful of committed residents has grown into a powerful force for change—mobilising thousands of volunteers, shaping public discourse, filing landmark Public Interest Litigations (PILs), and driving government action to safeguard the city’s biodiversity parks, Aravalli forests, and urban green spaces.
Over the years, Latika has played a pivotal role in protecting several Aravalli biodiversity parks from encroachment, construction, and industrial development. Through her close collaboration with GurgaonFirst, she continues to champion ecological conservation, inspire citizen participation, and document Gurugram’s rich natural heritage.
