Latika Thukral co-founded I Am Gurgaon in 2009 as a citizen movement to protect Gurugram’s biodiversity parks, Aravalli forests, and urban green spaces. What began as a small group of concerned residents has grown into one of the most influential civic organisations in the NCR — mobilising thousands of volunteers, filing landmark PILs, and successfully pressuring GMDA and the Haryana government to protect critical ecosystems from encroachment and development pressure.
Latika’s work has been instrumental in saving several Aravalli biodiversity parks from construction and industrial use. She works closely with GurgaonFirst on ecological advocacy, citizen education, and the documentation of Gurugram’s natural heritage — insisting that the city’s environmental future and its civic identity are inseparable.
